Cumberland County Council on Older Adults awarded $25K grant from Cornelia “Neill” Bullock Wilkins Charitable Endowment Fund of Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc.

The Cumberland County Council on Older Adults was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Cornelia “Neill” Bullock Wilkins Charitable Endowment Fund of Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc. in support of the Council’s Information & Assistance Program.

Information & Assistance (I&A) services are critical services designed to assist older adults, their families and others acting on their behalves to acquire information about programs and services and to obtain appropriate services to meet their needs.

The program has seen significant increases in the volume of requests for resource information. Last fiscal year I&A made 4,152 referrals on behalf of callers. This fiscal year (July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017) the program is projected to make approximately 5,800 referrals , a 38% increase. As the aging population continues to grow, so does the need for information services.

Welcome to our website! The Council on Older Adults was established in 1968 as a non-profit organization and forty-eight years later we remain committed to our original mission of helping older adults living in Cumberland County maintain their independence at home with dignity.
