Council awarded $25K from Cornelia “Neill” Bullock Wilkins Charitable Endowment of Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc.

The Council on Older Adults is the recipient of a grant from the Cornelia “Neill” Bullock Wilkins Charitable Endowment Fund of Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc. in the amount of $25,000 in support of our Information & Assistance Services. Information & Assistance (I&A) services are critical services designed to assist older adults, their families and others acting on their behalves to acquire information about programs and services and to obtain appropriate services to meet their needs. The quote from one of our clients below is just one example of the grant’s impact:

“Words cannot adequately express my appreciation for your guidance on Monday in helping me plan a course of action for my mother. She will be relocated to a rehab http://healthsavy.com/product/soma/ facility in Fayetteville, perhaps as early as Wednesday. It will give my brother and me time to place her in a safe environment and assist in expediting her recovery from cancer. I plan to reach out again to the Cumberland County Council on Older Adults once she is placed for additional help. Your knowledge was not only comprehensive but critical to our situation given the time constraints. You and your team are truly a blessing to us and our mother and have given our family hope that she will soon be able to stand on her own again. With much thanks and gratitude.” – Daughter of recipient of Information & Assistance Services
