Council on Older Adults Partners with Carillon Assisted Living & Fayetteville Urban Ministry

During the month of December the Cumberland County Council on Older Adults partnered with Carillon Assisted Living to help promote “A Carillon Christmas Concert” and Fayetteville Urban Ministry to collect coats. A full trashcan of gently used coats was presented to Johnny Wilson, Executive Director, of Fayetteville Urban Ministry. The more non-profits work together, the wider we can spread our reach to help those in need.


Cross Creek Subaru Helps Our Meals on Wheels Program

Our Meals on Wheels Program is extremely fortunate to be a part of the Subaru “Share the Love” Event happening now thru January 2nd! Thanks to Cross Creek Subaru, our local partner, we will help a larger number of seniors receive healthy nutritious meals in Cumberland County! Cumberland County Council on Older Adults Coordinates Annual Holiday Meals for 160 Recipients

Fayetteville, NC – Cumberland County Council on Older Adults’ parking lot will buzz with activity Thursday December 19th as volunteers load bags complete with frozen turkey breasts, all the trimmings for a holiday dinner and additional food items to help beyond the holiday meal. Twenty-six volunteer teams deliver the food bags to 160 recipients to include Council on Older Adults and Operation Blessing clients, selected Wounded Warriors and senior call-ins. (more…)

Cumberland Community Foundation Awards Grant

The Cumberland Community Foundation has awarded the Council on Older Adults a $20,000 grant. The funding will be used to implement a new Senior Companion Program. For more information about the Foundation please visit www.cumberlandcf.org


Medicare Part D Open Enrollment

The open enrollment period for Medicare Part D (Prescription Drug Plan- PDP) or Medicare Advantage Plan with Prescription Plan (MA-PP) is October 15 through December 7, 2013. If you need to speak with a SHIIP counselor to compare plans please call 484-011 to make an appointment. SHIIP counselors will be available every Tuesday during the open enrollment period.
