Wanda’s Story…

Meet Wanda Rogers: A 67 year old Stedman resident, who has health conditions which prevent her from being able to cook and stand for long periods of time. Despite her inability to be completely independent, this sweet southern lady, who will call you “shug” in an instant, finds joy in every day. One of her sources of joy is seeing her volunteers’ bright and shiny faces as they deliver hot meals.

Wanda has received Meals on Wheels for over five years. In fact, it was a friend who originally told her about the program. Wanda statement about this friend? “She is a blessing in my life.”

Every Tuesday Joe and Dianne Holler deliver Wanda’s hot meal for the day on their route to deliver a total of 17 meals to home bound seniors who need proper nutrition. They greet each other with a warm hug and an “I love you”. You see, Meals on Wheels is more than a meal. Meals on Wheels provides interaction most seniors may not get otherwise.
